While immigration and the economy are sure to take center stage in Tuesday night's presidential debate, questions on legalizing marijuana might just spark its own discussion.
In a move aimed at finally making universal school choice a reality in North Carolina, the state Senate passed a measure on Monday that clears the waitlists for Opportunity Scholarships and the Education Savings Account program.
The North Carolina General Assembly is scheduled to gavel in this week to vote on clearing the 55,000 family waitlist for Opportunity Scholarships. The OSP program provides state money to families for a private school. Language in the state legislature's budget last year opened the program to all North Carolina families on a sliding scale with the lowest incomes served first.
Kennedy's lawyers said they would immediately appeal, and the judge agreed to stay her order for 24 hours. It's now unclear if the State Board of Elections will be able to begin distributing ballots on Friday.
