Gov. Roy Cooper will deliver his inaugural speech Saturday morning even though all of Saturday’s and Sunday’s inaugural festivities have been put on ice.

Cooper will deliver the address from the Executive Mansion at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. UNC-TV plans to carry the address live.

On Thursday, the inaugural committee announced that Saturday’s and Sundays festivities had been nixed after consulting with the state’s emergency management team. A winter storm warning has been issued for the area Friday night and Saturday.

A Council of State oath of office ceremony was planned for 3 p.m. Friday at the Executive Mansion.

The Junior League of Raleigh has canceled its inaugural ball, originally scheduled for Saturday night, and instead will host a reception honoring the governor  Friday at 6 p.m. at Marble’s Kids Museum in Raleigh.
