Susan Fisher, D-Buncombe, will officially retire from office at the end of this year.

Fisher, a news release says, has represented House District 114 for 18 years and is currently minority whip. Her current term was scheduled to end on Jan. 1, 2023.

“Representative Fisher joined the North Carolina House 18 years ago, and we have served together ever since,” House Speaker Tim Moore, R-Cleveland, said in a statement. “Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand her dedication to her district and her constituents there. It has been an honor to serve the people of North Carolina alongside Representative Fisher, and I am thankful for her commitment to this body and to work tirelessly for those she represents.”
