Republicans taking charge of the General Assembly said one item they will push early in the session is a bill lifting the statewide cap of charter schools, now set at 100. GOP leaders are highlighting the issue during National School Choice Week, a grass-roots effort to publicize educational choice efforts across the country.

Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger of Eden has suggested that the bill lifting the cap could be introduced in the session’s first week.
