The N.C. Board of Elections decided Tuesday to fine Gov. Beverly Perdue’s campaign $30,000 for failing to report flights she took as a candidate in 2004 and 2008.

The board voted 4-1 in favor of the fine. Republican member Bill Peaslee was the only member to vote against. Another motion to hold public hearings related to the investigation of campaign flights failed by a 2-3 vote.

The Perdue campaign and the other gubernatorial campaigns from the 2008 election were also instructed to work with the board of elections to establish better flight reporting procedures.
