RALEIGH – The bill being debated in a study committee of North Carolina’s General Assembly would give the state more control over local Alcoholic Beverage Control boards. Earlier this year it was rumored that the state would privatize some or all of its ABC system. Privatization is unlikely under draft legislation. The study committee’s findings are due May 12, when the legislative short session convenes. The committee’s final meeting is today at 2.
