Red Oak Brewery owner Bill Sherrill hopes the General Assembly will allow his Guilford County operation to continue growing. But state law requires any brewery producing more than 25,000 barrels a year to distribute through a wholesaler, and Sherrill says wholesalers can’t be trusted to maintain his beer at temperatures cold enough to guarantee its freshness.

He says he won’t invest in a larger capacity for his business — and add more employees — unless the cap is lifted.
