Class action would extend UNC lawsuit to more college tennis players

University of North Carolina tennis player Reese Brantmeier hopes her lawsuit challenging the NCAA’s prize-money rules will apply to any college tennis player who has competed since 2020. Brantmeier’s lawyers filed a motion Friday to turn her suit into a class action.

Stein sues legislators over changes to NC court, utilities appointments

Gov. Josh Stein is suing Republican legislative leaders over a state law that restricts his power to appoint new members to North Carolina’s statewide appellate courts and the Utilities Commission. It’s the latest lawsuit targeting a portion of Senate Bill 382. Stein is also challenging another law that limits his authority over a state Building Code Council.

Democrats want federal court to address GOP challenge of 60,000 NC ballots

Republicans filed the challenges with the State Board of Elections. Griffin asks Appeals Court to order decision on election protests by Tuesday

Republican North Carolina Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin is turning to North Carolina’s second-highest court for an order that would force state election officials to make a final decision about Griffin’s election protests Tuesday. The State Board of Elections had planned to hear oral arguments about the protests the following day, according to a document Griffin filed Friday with the state Court of Appeals.
