As the 20th Winter Olympics draw to a close, the phrase, “Let the games begin,” is slowly receding in our minds. Expect to hear it again soon, but this time with a far different meaning: On March 30th, scratch-off lottery tickets should hit stores around the state, introducing North Carolinians to unprecedented opportunities for “gaming.”

No. 886: UNC Out of Bounds With Cartoon Flap

It seems as though every time you turn around there is a situation at UNC-Chapel Hill involving the First Amendment. This week’s topic — a controversial cartoon printed by The Daily Tar Heel that depicted the prophet Muhammad — led to an uproar. University officials and the UNC-Chapel Hill Muslim Student Association said the newspaper was “insensitive” to publish the cartoon.
