It is incredible to see claims like ‘men and women are biologically different’ and ‘the color of a person’s skin is irrelevant’ being challenged by the political left. It is astonishing that in the era of widespread information, we have regressed intellectually.
Science is now being used to support our dogma and not challenge it. Identity politics is the new messiah, and Washington D.C. is the new Jerusalem of the woke religion, whereby people are baptized in the Potomac River. To break from one’s political party and the politically designated experts is blasphemy punishable by cancellation. Additionally, one must acknowledge the original sin of being white and end each prayer with “A-woman.”
If you are like me, then you are asking yourself, “What the hell is going on?” How can things like biology and equality among people be horrific notions to the woke zealots? Even if you were to take the perspective that conservatives have a political agenda, the only thing that is being infringed on is biological ignorance and racism.
This is not to say one should blindly go with a legislation agenda, especially one that touches on social issues. I, too, have unanswered questions when it comes to H. B. 358 and S. B. 729, but their underlying premises are rooted in truth. Since the woke zealot takes a very simplistic view of the world, i.e., things can easily be defined as either good or bad, moral or immoral, oppressed or oppressor, they often find themselves against the truth. This is because the framework for which they see the world is through an absolutist moral form of emotivism.
Emotivism is an unpopular ethical theory that has all but disappeared from academic circles. It gained prominence during the 20th century but quickly lost interest with supporters as critics began to see logical problems with it. Like subjectivism, emotivism argues that objective moral facts do not exist. However, emotivism takes a distinct stance that contends feelings about morality influences beliefs.
With this general knowledge about emotivism, i.e., an expression of feeling, it should come across as an oxymoron that one can practice moral absolutist emotivism. And you would be correct. The woke zealot takes the position they are correct on their “moral beliefs” based on how they feel about a particular issue. Thus, any person or concept that goes against their feelings is morally reprehensible, regardless of the contention embodying any truth. Hence, you find well-established views about reality being undermined by a political cult that is intent on advancing “their truth.” Accordingly, this is how you get anti-truth inquires like that of media with “Who defines what’s objective?” and that of local governments that “seek to develop an anti-racist math practice”. As if anything other than truth defines objectivity and 2 + 2 = 4 is the product of racism. What an absurd proposition.
We cannot be a society that would rather trade meaning and truth for superficial beliefs and ignorance. We need to reject the woke zealot’s advancement of anti-truth.
It is ironic to think that progressives and partisan media outlets used the term “post-truth” to shame conservatives once upon a time. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, post-truth is defined as “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.”
It is comical to think now that the woke zealot and their army of experts care about the truth. I am still waiting to see if the so-called fact-checkers will investigate the claim Republicans support defunding the police as White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claims. I thought that was an extraordinary claim worthy of investigation, but I have seen no action taken from the “guardians of misinformation.” But this type of capitulation to partisanship from progressive media outlets is to be expected in the era of post-truth. And of course, the woke zealots will be quick to point out that Psaki was merely speaking “her truth.” For the rest of us that look on in perplexity about what we are witnessing with our own eyes and ears, our minds go blank with disbelief. Indeed, the woke zealots are on the march promoting anti-truth, and they do so with an incredible sense of piety and self-admiration.
