State Sen. Tim Moffitt was first elected to the NC House of Representatives in 2010 and served until 2015, serving House District 116 in Buncombe County. He moved back to Henderson County in 2017 and ran for the open House seat to replace outgoing Rep. Chuck McGrady in 2020. He served District 117 until 2022 when he was elected to the NC Senate serving Senate District 48 which encompasses all of Henderson County, Polk County and Rutherford County. While in the House he chaired many different committees and most notably was the founding chair of the House Standing Committee on Regulatory Reform. He and his wife Dina have five sons and one grandchild. Moffitt still works professionally in his management consulting firm, Moffitt International, Inc., which he founded in 1990.
