R.V. Young is professor of English at North Carolina State University and editor of the quarterly review Modern Age. He serves on the editorial board on the Ben Johnson Journal and is a contributing editor to the ecumenical magazine Touchstone. He has served as director of graduate programs for the English Department and has also taught and served as interim department chairman at Christendom College and Franciscan University of Steubenville. With his colleague M. Thomas Hester, he founded the John Donne Journal and served as co-editor for 25 years. For several years he was review editor of Faith & Reason. Professor Young has also served as the president of the John Donne Society and on its board of directors and the board of directors of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars. He has twice been a Fulbright Fellow at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and has held an ACLS fellowship and a fellowship with the Southeastern Institute of Medieval and Renaissance Studies. He holds a B.A. (magna cum laude) from Rollins College and M. Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in English from Yale University.
