RNC contacts 4 million NC voters, Dems bring in celebrities as voting begins

As early voting began on Oct. 20, both major parties in North Carolina are ramping up their last-minute voter-outreach efforts. The Republicans are reporting they have made 4 million voter contacts, and Democrats are sponsoring events across the state, including with celebrities like rock icon Dave Matthews.

“The best way for voters to show up for their candidates is to make direct voter contacts, and making four million of those just goes to show how fired up the GOP is to show up for our own candidates,” said Tom Murry, a former state House member who is volunteering time for the GOP effort. “Republicans are ready for this November.”

Listed among the 4 million contacts reported by the GOP are 1 million door knocks and 3.2 million phone calls.

The Republican effort that reported these numbers is N.C. Victory, the election-year joint field operation of the Republican National Committee and the N.C. GOP that focuses on collaborating resources for all Republican candidates on the ballot. The RNC has 53 staff across the state assisting N.C. Victory in this cycle and report 80,000 volunteers have assisted their efforts.

Also on Oct. 20, Republicans held an event a GOTV event in Greensboro featuring RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, NRSC Chair Rick Scott, GOP U.S Senate nominee Ted Budd, and NC-06 GOP nominee Christian Castelli.

N.C. Democrats, for their part, are also going full-steam-ahead in the final weeks. They have announced the return of the Vote4NC bus tour, which will take party Chair Bobbie Richardson to vital stops across the states to rally support.

Democrats are also leaning on the celebrity factor to inspire North Carolinians to get out to vote. Billy Crudup, a Hollywood actor who has starred in movies like The Big Fish and television shows like The Morning Show, put out a video calling for support for the N.C. Democratic Party. Crudup is a UNC alumnus.

The Democrats also announced an Oct. 25 concert in Raleigh by popular rock artists the Dave Matthews Band. The concert promos highlight Beasley’s campaign in particular.
