Ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, North Carolina US Sen. Ted Budd has been named vice chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is the campaign arm for Republican senators and works to elect Republicans to the US Senate on Capitol Hill. North Carolina US Sen. Thom Tillis is up for reelction in 2026, along with 19 other Republican senators.
In a statement on Thursday, the NRSC announced a team of five senators who will serve alongside Chairman Sen. Tim Scott, R-SC, to grow and expand the Republican Senate majority in the years ahead. Along with Sen. Budd, Republican U.S. Sens. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Katie Britt of Alabama, Pete Ricketts of Nebraska, and U.S. Sen.-elect Jim Banks of Indiana will serve as vice chairs.
“Republicans are unified to advance President @realDonaldTrump’s agenda, deliver on our promises to the American people, and expand and grow our majority in 2026,” Budd said in a statement. “I look forward to working with @votetimscott to build the team necessary to win in the midterms.”

Sen Tim Scott announced the vice chairs and said Republicans are united around defending our U.S. Senate majority. He said it will be all hands on deck when it comes to raising resources, expanding the map, and building the organization to win.
Republicans are set to take control of both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate in January 2025.
