A new study from NC State analyzes ten potential cities for an MLB team, with Raleigh and Charlotte among the top contenders.
For the sixth straight year, NC ranks among the top five states for economic outlook in the year ahead, according to the ALEC’s latest Rich States, Poor States report.
Though Democrats focused on what they felt was underfunding, other groups applauded the budget for focusing on tax cuts and other economic issues.
"Over the decade and a half that has transpired since Republicans took control of the North Carolina General Assembly for the first time in over a century, what we have seen is a real transformation of North Carolina state government, and that transformation has led to a real transformation and really a rebirth of the North Carolina economy," Berger said.
As the fifth most visited state in the nation, travel spending within North Carolina’s tourism industry reached a record-breaking $36 million in 2023 as the state welcomed roughly 43 million visitors. The tourism industry generates nearly $2.6 billion in state and local tax revenues.
North Carolina’s strengths are its business friendliness, workforce, and economy. The state’s weaknesses are the cost of living and quality of life.
The state appropriated $18 million in incentives and millions of dollars in extra tax breaks to the USGA in a 2020 bill.
