The annual ranking evaluates all 50 states across 135 metrics in 10 key categories of competitiveness, including economy, business friendliness, workforce, infrastructure, and more. The Tar Heel State has been a top performer in the annual survey in recent years, claiming the number one spot in 2022 and 2023, and finishing second in 2021 and 2024.
