Elections board passes emergency resolution for voters in 13 counties impacted by Helene

The North Carolina State Board of Elections voted unanimously to provide additional time, resources, and flexibility to voters in the impacted communities. North Carolina law allows the board to exercise emergency powers to conduct an election in a district where the normal schedule for the election is disrupted by a natural disaster.

Ballot selfie lands NC voter in legal battle with State Board of Elections

Ballot selfies are illegal in 14 states, including North Carolina. The state ban includes taking a photo with a ballot at an election site and an absentee ballot at home. Breaking the state law can lead to a misdemeanor charge under North Carolina General Statute 163-166.3(c).
