‘This storm is different.’ State leaders plan emergency transportation, insurance, and crop impact as Debby moves north

North Carolina’s Departments of Agriculture and Insurance are watching Tropical Storm Debby closely, and bracing for heavy rainfall across the state. The storm coming early in hurricane season could mean more devastation for farmers, as the end of season harvesting hasn’t started.

State of Emergency ahead of Tropical Storm Debby

On Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service issued a new briefing on what North Carolina can expect from Tropical Storm Debby, saying that expected rainfall totals have increased, and a Flood Watch has expanded to now include all of central NC. On Monday, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper issued a State of Emergency ahead of impact.
