Auditor Calls Out NCHSAA Pension Scheme

RALEIGH — State Auditor Beth Wood suggested that the North Carolina High School Athletics Association and Chatham County Schools may have broken the law by assigning a NCHSAA official to the schools’ payroll. A decade ago, state officials went to the mat to protect the pension of a former state worker who took charge of a tax-funded nonprofit children’s museum.
