Electric vehicle chargers coming to NC counties with least EV registrations

Gov. Roy Cooper revealed this week that nine cities across North Carolina will receive a total of $5.92 million in government funds to build electric vehicle charging stations. However, most of the counties selected maintain the lowest electric vehicle registrations in the state.

Smoke and mirrors? NC advances federally-funded EV plan

For $109 million in federal taxpayer money, phase one will focus on Interstate 40, U.S. 17, and I-77. Phase two will focus on increasing public access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure, particularly in historically disadvantaged communities.
