Protestors associated with the group Students for Justice Palestine at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill tore down the American flag on Thursday outside that armory and replaced it with the Palestine flag.

Kraemer offered these comments during a Sept. 3, 2024, interview with One America News Network.
The night kicked off with veterans taking the stage and a military flyover. The line-up of country music stars featured Five for Fighting, Aaron Lewis, Big & Rich, Lee Greenwood, and Chapel Hill alumni Nick Searcy from the class of ‘82, who led the crowd in a university anthem. The event wrapped with fireworks overhead as Lee Greenwood sang the iconic song, "God Bless the USA."
The UNC-Chapel Hill fraternity brothers, who became famous for holding up and protecting the American flag after pro-Palestinian protestors took it down during a protest on campus in April, were spotlighted Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
On Thursday, Sen. Ted Budd, R-NC, joined the chorus of praise for UNC's chancellor and a group of students who stepped in to protect the American flag from protesters. Nearly half a million dollars has been raised through GoFundMe for the students and country music star John Rich has offered them a free concert.
