The executive director of North Carolina’s State Board of Elections is asking the head of the Division of Motor Vehicles for Social Security numbers of DMV customers who are also registered voters. North Carolina-based election integrity activist Cleta Mitchell is urging a federal judge to reject requests from left-of-center groups to compel her testimony next month at a trial in Winston-Salem. Mitchell filed court documents Thursday suggesting that she has no relevant information in the case challenging a 2023 state law. It changed rules linked to same-day voter registration, or SDR.

Feds file suit over alleged inaccurate NC voter list
