All-GOP Appeals Court panel ruled against Stein in elections board dispute

Three Republican members of the North Carolina Court of Appeals issued the April order that blocked a lower court ruling favoring Democratic Gov. Josh Stein in a dispute over state elections board appointments. Appeals Court rules blocked release of the names of participating judges for 90 days. Now the court has revealed that Judges Julee Flood, Michael Stading, and Tom Murry issued the April 30 order.

Griffin opposes full Appeals Court hearing, Murry recusal in election dispute

Republican state Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin opposes Democrat Allison Riggs’s proposal for the full state Appeals Court to hear Griffin’s case challenging more than 65,000 ballots cast in the Nov. 5 election. Griffin also opposes Riggs’ request that one appellate judge not take part in the case at all.

NC Appeals Court tackles animal cruelty lawsuit targeting poultry operation

North Carolina’s second-highest court wrestled Tuesday with a lawsuit targeting a Burke County poultry operation for alleged violations of the state’s animal cruelty law. Defendant Case Farms argues that an exemption in state law protects its operations from the suit.
