HD 22 Challenger Smith Says He Offers ‘True Conservative’ Alternative

RALEIGH — Republican Ken Smith says his campaign to oust Democratic incumbent Rep. William Brisson from the House District 22 seat in the General Assembly is nothing personal. Residents of big swaths of Bladen and Sampson counties, and a small portion of Johnston County, need an average person with strong conservative credentials to represent their interests. Brisson, he says, simply doesn’t fit the bill.

Democrat Clark Seeks Second Term in Senate District 21

RALEIGH — Freshman Sen. Ben Clark said the General Assembly made a mistake last year by not expanding Medicaid. He wants to “right that wrong.” Since no Republican is running for the District 21 seat, the winner of the Democratic primary will be sworn into office in January, barring the unlikely event of a successful write-in or unaffiliated candidate in the Nov. 4 general election.

Bingham and Gallimore Face Off Again In Senate District 33

RALEIGH — In 2012 Tea Party Republican Eddie Gallimore came within 505 votes of defeating incumbent Republican Sen. Stan Bingham for the opportunity to represent Davidson and Montgomery counties in the North Carolina Senate. White, Cook Battle For Coastal Seat Once Held By Basnight

RALEIGH — Whether voters elect Democratic incumbent Sen. Stan White or Republican state Rep. Bill Cook, they’ll have an advocate against proposed ferry tolls and in favor of the $600 million Mid-Currituck Bridge project. This summer the legislature postponed ferry toll increases until July 1, 2013.
