State Bar Goes After Stanly County DA Hopeful’s Campaign Signs

RALEIGH — The North Carolina State Bar circumvented the State Board of Elections and may have trampled a Stanly County candidate’s constitutional rights when it demanded that district attorney candidate Jim Phillips change his campaign signs, critics allege. The Bar warned Phillips that his campaign signs violated judicial ethics because they didn’t include wording such as “vote for” or “for.”
