NC legislature overrides Cooper’s veto to pass new abortion restrictions

On Tuesday, both chambers of the North Carolina state legislature voted to override Governor Roy Cooper’s veto of Senate Bill 20, “Care for Women, Children, and Families Act,” which restricts elective abortions after 12 weeks of fetal development.

Cooper targets swing district lawmakers without reaching out to them first

Roy Cooper is targeting four Republican lawmakers in a video put out last week to increase political pressure on them for the upcoming abortion vote. Additionally, Cooper scheduled visits to their districts. Surprisingly, Cooper has not contacted any of the four lawmakers to discuss the bill.
