Lindberg fraud, bribery retrial officially set for May 6

Former top North Carolina political donor Greg Lindberg will head back to federal court on May 6 for a retrial on fraud and bribery charges that initially sent him to prison for a seven-year sentence. An Appeals Court later wiped out that sentence. Charges were connected to Lindberg’s interaction with state Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey.

PPP fraud in NC jumps to nearly $40 million after Mooresville man prosecuted

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, at least 50 individuals have been prosecuted for pandemic relief fraud in N.C., totaling up to nearly $40 million in COVID-19 relief fraud.  The most recent North Carolinian to be federally charged is Steven Andiloro, 51, from Mooresville.

NC Appeals Court deals another legal blow to former NC political donor Lindberg

As former top N.C. political donor Greg Lindberg awaits a federal retrial on bribery and fraud charges in November, the N.C. Court of Appeals delivered him another legal blow Tuesday. In a case titled Southland v. Lindberg, a unanimous Appeals Court panel affirmed a May 2022 Wake County Superior Court ruling against Lindberg and multiple associated companies.

Lindberg likely to face November retrial in bribery case before trial on other charges

A former top N.C. political donor will likely face a federal retrial on bribery charges before he heads to court in a separate case dealing with his insurance businesses. Greg Lindberg is scheduled to go to trial in July in connection with a 13-count federal indictment. Charges include wire fraud, money-laundering conspiracy, and false entries about insurance business finances. But Lindberg’s lawyers filed a motion Friday to delay the trial until no earlier than February 2024.

New Lindberg bribery, fraud trial officially set for Nov. 6

A federal judge has set Nov. 6 as the date for a new bribery and fraud trial for former high-profile N.C. political donor Greg Lindberg. The case had been scheduled for this month. It was delayed because of issues related to Lindberg co-defendant John Gray.
