Voters prefer Robinson over Stein, DeSantis over Biden and Trump in 2024 matchups

Recent survey data from the N.C. Faith and Freedom Coalition and N.C. Values Coalition shows that registered N.C. voters prefer Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in the 2024 general election. Results also showed N.C. Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson leading current N.C. Attorney General Josh Stein in a potential matchup for governor in 2024.

N.C. Universities Survive Recession-Era Cuts

RALEIGH — North Carolina’s public universities remain relatively affordable. The average UNC system student with an income of less than $30,000 paid just $6,511 in net costs in 2011-12. By contrast, students with family income greater than $110,000 paid more than double that amount — $15,634. The $6,511 figure is not all that different from the cost of living at home without attending school.

Study: UNC Teaching Load Data Not Very Reliable

RALEIGH — Faculty salaries are roughly half of the University of North Carolina system’s budget. Even slight adjustments could mean savings well into the tens of millions of dollars. Using official data taken directly from university registrars’ websites, the Pope Center’s Jay Schalin found that the UNC estimates of faculty teaching loads were inflated by roughly one course per professor per semester.
