Budd, Tillis organize letter demanding Josh Stein protect crisis pregnancy centers

North Carolina’s U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis and U.S. Rep. Ted Budd, who is currently running to join Tillis in the U.S. Senate, organized a letter, sent on July 29, demanding that N.C. Attorney General Josh Stein take action to protect crisis pregnancy centers in the state. Other signatories joining the letter were fellow N.C. Republicans U.S....

Progressives should blame themselves for end of Roe

Despite the lamenting by progressives over the recent Supreme Court Dobbs v. Jackson decision, and the end of Roe v. Wade, they have only themselves to blame.  For over a decade, the progressive movement failed to codify accessibility to safe, rare, and legal abortion. Instead of strengthening their position and minimizing their reliance on the weak judicial argument...

Early the morning of Sunday July 3, vandals targeted Holy Family Catholic Church in Hillsborough, N.C., with anti-Christian and pro-abortion messages in bright yellow spray paint. Abortion law in N.C. after Roe

After the well-publicized leak of a draft decision from the U.S. Supreme Court, it appears a majority of the court could overturn the current federal precedent — as laid out in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. The decision is likely to be released in May or June. If the justices follow through on provisions of the draft opinion, states would begin to operate under rules of their own, whether already passed or new legislation inspired by the change in federal law.

Political experts: Pending abortion ruling unlikely to sway N.C. midterm elections

The U.S. Supreme Court’s pending ruling on national abortion law is unlikely to significantly impact races up and down the ballot for Congress and the General Assembly in North Carolina, political experts say. That analysis lands despite claims by Democrats that they have found an issue to run on headed into a midterm cycle that is...
