VIDEO: Wake County Considers Controlled Choice for Schools
RALEIGH - The Wake County School Board has begun official discussions to change the district's longstanding student assignment policy. The recently elected school board majority unveiled its intention to create a controlled choice assignment policy. It would give parents some choice of where to send their kids for school. Board member John Tedesco would like to see the school district broken into smaller geographic areas, so parents could choose schools close to their homes. Other board members want some assurances that some socioeconomic diversity in the schools will be preserved.
