A new filing at the N.C. Supreme Court suggests the state’s former top political donor owes $1.9 billion or more to his creditors. The filing arrives as the donor, Greg Lindberg, asks the state’s highest court to reverse a lower court ruling in a dispute involving insurance companies.
Former top N.C. political donor Greg Lindberg is asking the state Supreme Court to block a recent state Court of Appeals ruling against him. The intermediate court affirmed in June a trial judge’s decision holding Lindberg and associated defendants “liable for breach of contract and fraud.”
As former top N.C. political donor Greg Lindberg awaits a federal retrial on bribery and fraud charges in November, the N.C. Court of Appeals delivered him another legal blow Tuesday. In a case titled Southland v. Lindberg, a unanimous Appeals Court panel affirmed a May 2022 Wake County Superior Court ruling against Lindberg and multiple associated companies.
