Folwell discusses recent taxpayer wins in SHP, retirement system
North Carolina State Treasurer Dale Folwell’s monthly call with reporters had a celebratory ring to it.
The North Carolina Supreme Court will not take up pension spiking cases involving the Harnett and Wilson county school boards. In both cases, the state’s second-highest court ruled against the school systems in their disputes with the state employees’ retirement system.
A unanimous three-judge panel of the NC Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of the state retirement system and against the Harnett County school board in a pension-spiking battle. At stake is a nearly $198,000 bill assessed to the local schools.
