Tillis’ legislation to fund SBA disaster relief is blocked by Paul

US Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY, blocked a unanimous consent vote in the Senate Thursday on legislation that US Sen. Thom Tillis introduced last month that would refill the now depleted Small Business Administration’s disaster relief loan program, which ran out of money on Oct. 15.

Mask restrictions become law after Senate overrides 3 Cooper vetoes

Following the override votes in the NC House Wednesday, the NC Senate followed suit in overriding the three vetoes on Thursday afternoon, making for a total of 22 veto overrides this biennium. All three pieces of legislation now become law, notwithstanding the objections of Gov. Roy Cooper.

Foushee wins NC Democratic 4th Congressional District race over Allam, Aiken

State Sen. Valerie Foushee, D-Orange, is the winner of the competitive Democratic primary race in North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District.  With 157 of 162 precincts reporting, Foushee won with 39,923 or 47% of the vote compared to Nida Allam with 31,320 or 37% and Clay Aiken came in 3rdwith 6,288 votes or 7%.
