Trump DOJ drops federal interest in NC law against gender transition surgeries for minors

The US Department of Justice is no longer fighting North Carolina’s law banning gender transition surgeries for minors. A letter submitted Thursday in federal court indicated the Trump DOJ's reversal of the Biden administration’s decision to take part in a federal lawsuit challenging the ban.

Cooper v. Berger elections board battle renamed Stein v. Hall

In a sign of changing leadership in North Carolina government, a legal fight pitting the Democratic governor against top Republican legislative leaders has a new name. In a court filing Tuesday, a lawsuit challenging changes to oversight of the state elections board is no longer titled Cooper v. Berger. It’s now called Stein v. Hall.

NCInnovation board selects investment manager for $500 million taxpayer-funded endowment

Stein defends abortion drug stance in latest federal court filing

Governor-elect Josh Stein restated his case against North Carolina’s restrictions on the abortion drug mifepristone in a new court filing this week. Stein is the lead defendant in a UNC Health doctor’s lawsuit challenging state restrictions. Stein and plaintiff Dr. Amy Bryant both want courts to throw state restrictions out.
