The North Carolina Supreme Court will not consider a case involving more than three dozen Raleigh police officers who argued that they were unconstitutionally passed over for “stand-by” pay. A unanimous state Appeals Court panel ruled against the officers in 2023.

Supreme Court vacates ruling against NC State Health Plan in transgender coverage case

The US Supreme Court has vacated a lower court ruling against the North Carolina State Health Plan in a case dealing with coverage of medical treatments typically sought by transgender patients. The high court issued an order Monday calling for the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals to give the case “further consideration in light of United States v. Skrmetti.”

Top NC court will not take second look at Kinston racial discrimination claim

Two Kinston men who say the city condemned their properties in 2017 based on a racially discriminatory process will not get a second review of the case from the North Carolina Supreme Court. Two months after the high court ruled in favor of Joseph Askew and Curtis Washington in 2024, the state Appeals Court ruled against the two men.

State asks top NC court to reject appeal in Sunday hunting case

State government lawyers are asking the North Carolina Supreme Court to reject an appeal in a recent case upholding government restrictions on Sunday hunting. Plaintiff Tim Oates is asking the state’s high court to overturn a unanimous April 16 decision from the state Court of Appeals. Appellate judges agreed that the laws governing Sunday hunting comply with the North Carolina Constitution.

Top NC court upholds 60K votes challenged by Griffin, leaves others in doubt
