RALEIGH — Ask a conservative to compile a top list of American political heroes, and you’ll not be surprised to see names such as Thomas Jefferson, Barry Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan. The names Nathaniel Macon, Josiah Bailey, and John W. Davis might seem less obvious. But all six men are profiled in a Raleigh author’s latest book, Conservative Heroes, the topic for the John Locke Foundation’s Monday Shaftesbury Society luncheon.

JLF President Writes New Book to Help N.C. Put ‘Our Best Foot Forward’

RALEIGH — If North Carolina were a separate country, its economy would be one of the weakest in the developed world based on average employment rates, and its tax climate for economic growth would be nothing short of "horrendous." John Locke Foundation President John Hood reaches those conclusions in his new book, Our Best Foot Forward. Hood officially unveils his book during a noon speech today at the JLF office in Raleigh.
