As General Assembly overrides vetoes, Stein calls on legislators to instead pass budget

As the General Assembly reconvened in Raleigh Tuesday morning to consider overriding 14 of his vetoes, Democratic Gov. Josh Stein held a press conference, saying the legislature should be focused on passing a budget, not on the vetoes, which he said are a “distraction that divides us.”

With long lines, impending audit, NC officials pledge fixes to DMV

Audit Finds Driver License Flaws

RALEIGH — Continuing work began by his Democratic predecessor, Republican State Auditor Les Merritt released a report Tuesday that found several security lapses in North Carolina’s issuance of driver’s licenses. The review of the program, administered by the Division of Motor Vehicles, was motivated after last year’s audit of the state’s use of federal funds for homeland security and bioterrorism.
