NCSBE to rule on candidate’s preferred religious name

The North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) voted unanimously at their remote meeting on Thursday to make a declaratory ruling on a Rutherford County candidate’s request for the use of a preferred religious name as opposed to their legal name on the ballot in November’s General Election.

Stein, lawmakers propose joint plan for arguments at top NC court

Gov. Josh Stein and top legislative leaders hope to split upcoming North Carolina Supreme Court arguments into two parts. One would focus on changes to Stein’s power to fill judicial vacancies. The other would cover appointment shifts to state boards and commissions.
