Wilson, N.C. – Candidate for the N.C. Senate E.S. “Buck” Newton filed a libel lawsuit against his opponent five-term incumbent A.B. Swindell.
At issue is a mailer paid for by the N.C. Democratic Party and authorized by Swindell. It claims Newton was arrested in 1990 one several drug related charges. Newton says he was never arrested, all charges were dropped and it was a case of mistaken identity.
