Raleigh, N.C. – An advisory committee to North Carolina’s General Assembly is studying whether the state should develop offshore energy.

Its final meeting is April 13th. Its members are far from being able to recommend whether N.C. should start drilling for oil and natural gas or build windmill farms. Members say there are still too many variables for them to make such a recommendation. One is whether there is actually any oil off the Carolina coast, another is what the state would do with revenue from energy. A major issue is also how the state would bring oil, natural gas or wind energy onto shore.
