The week of Oct. 19, Carolina Journal interviewed a 47-year-old man who claimed that when he was 13 years old, state Sen. R.C. Soles Jr., a Democrat from Tabor City, lured him to the senator’s home, plied him with alcohol, and sexually assaulted him. After Carolina Journal Online published the original exclusive outlining allegations made by a man who wants to be called Jay, WWAY-TV in Wilmington aired several stories on the allegations, including excerpts of an interview with Jay taped several weeks before CJ spoke with him. Click play above to view the first portion of our videotaped interview with Jay. In it, he details repeated sexual assaults by Sen. Soles. (WARNING: The interview includes some graphic descriptions.)
