Folwell proposes monthly match for state employees in state’s 401k plan

North Carolina State Treasurer Dale Folwell has submitted a framework for draft legislation that introduces a monthly $25 employer match for nearly 350,000 active members in the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS), Consolidated Judicial Retirement System (CJRS), Legislative Retirement System (LRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP).

Weatherman defeats O’Neill for GOP nomination for lieutenant governor

Hal Weatherman was victorious over his second primary opponent Jim O’Neill on Tuesday for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor in North Carolina. With more than two-thirds of precincts reporting on Tuesday night Weatherman had 76% of the vote compared to O’Neill’s 23.8%.

Republican nominees for lieutenant governor, state auditor to be determined in today’s second primary

North Carolina is holding its second primary today. Polls will be open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm. To be eligible to vote, you must either be a registered Republican or an unaffiliated voter who either did not vote in the March 5th primary election or voted the Republican ballot in the primary.

Bad for business? NC Chamber bemoans primary winners Morrow, Farley

North Carolina’s economy has been growing by leaps and bounds in recent years, earning it the moniker of “The Best State to do Business” two years in a row (2022 & 2023) by CNBC, among other accolades. Place your bets! Sports betting officially becomes legal in NC

It is official. Sports betting is now legal in North Carolina. Anyone 21 or older holding an account with a licensed operator can use their phone or electronic device to place sports wagers starting at noon. The first wagers will be made on mobile devices, as no operator has been approved for in-person wagering at this time.
