A new prescription drug program is saving patients big bucks in Union County.

The Prescription Drug Discount Card is free, and it can be picked up at any county library and most county buildings. It can be used by any county resident, regardless of age, income or existing health coverage.

Since being launched in September, the program has saved more than $70,000 for more than 3,000 people.

“Save $10, $20, $30 on a prescription, that’s great,” said Brett Vines, a Union County spokesman. “They can use that money for other things.”
