Daniel B. Coupland is an associate professor of Education at Hillsdale College in Michigan. He holds a B.A. in Spanish from Liberty University, an M.A. in linguistics from Oakland University, and a Ph.D. in curriculum, teaching, and education policy from Michigan State University. Before teaching in higher education, he taught Spanish at a public high school in southeast Michigan. At Hillsdale, Dr. Coupland teaches courses in reading, children’s literature, and English grammar. He is coordinator for the college’s Liberal Arts Teacher Apprenticeship and serves as an advisor for Hillsdale’s Barney Charter School Initiative. Dr. Coupland also serves on the board of directors for the Society for Classical Learning. He and his wife, Kari, live in Jonesville, Michigan, with their three children.
