State’s top court to consider case of liability for Robeson deputy’s injuries

The North Carolina Supreme Court has agreed to take a case involving legal liability for a Robeson County deputy sheriff’s injuries during traffic work. The state Court of Appeals ruled in December that the sheriff’s office and a private state Department of Transportation contractor bore joint responsibility for the deputy’s injuries in 2019.

Hagan Contractor Applications Raise Questions

RALEIGH — U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan’s husband Charles “Chip” Hagan, a Greensboro attorney, certified to the North Carolina licensing board for electrical contractors that their son Tilden Hagan worked 3,500 hours installing electrical wiring and equipment over a period of 324 days in 2012 — requiring Tilden to work consecutive 76-hour weeks over that period.
