Subcommittees of North Carolina’s Building Code Council put their final touches on recommendations to improve energy efficiency in North Carolina homes. A group wrote suggested codes that would force a 30 percent improvement in energy efficiency in new construction. Builders balked at those suggestions, claiming they would make it too expensive to build new homes.
