RALEIGH — Raleigh police arrested the president of North Carolina’s NAACP chapter and a handful of protesters who disrupted the Wake County school board’s meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Rev. William Barber of the NAACP and Pastor Nancy Petty from Pullen Memorial Baptist Church were arrested for violating a no trespassing order from the school board. The order was issued after Barber and Petty were arrested at an earlier school board meeting.

The other protesters disrupted the board’s meeting near the end of the public comment period. The protesters disagree with the board majority’s stated goal of ending the school district’s busing for diversity policy.
