Raleigh, N.C. – North Carolina’s elected officials are debating the state’s budget for its next fiscal year.
They claim the current budget to be only $19 billion, but the state actually planned to spend $49 billion in fiscal year 2009-’10. Much of that additional money came from the federal government.
The more the state relies on federal money the less control Raleigh has over its affairs.
