RALEIGH – Governor Perdue sent her budget proposal to the General Assembly Thursday.
She proposes spending $19.9 billion. The biggest point of contention for the Republicans controlling the legislature is the governor’s reliance on a three-quarter cent sales tax. It is a partial extension of the 1 cent sales tax enacted in 2009. Republicans promised to repeal the tax when they ran last year.
