RALEIGH – The North Carolina House of Representatives passed its more than $19 billion over the protests of the state’s teacher’s union.
Republicans drew five Democrats to their side in passing the budget. It now moves to the Senate where Republican leaders say they will push to shrink the spending even further.
The North Carolina Association of Educators held a rally Tuesday across from the legislature protesting budget cuts. Republicans say their budget will not cut any teacher jobs.
